From 14 to 16 January 2020, we presented the latest trends in winter fashion for 2020 to retailers and the trade press at PREMIUM Berlin.
The trade fair is the most important international business platform for Men & Women fashion and is always on the lookout for radical new collections from all over the world. And that is precisely why CARL GROSS and the CARL GROSS BLACK LINE, with its values MODERN, TRADITIONAL and EXCELLENT, were represented at the event.
In this blog post, we will share with you the highlights of the trade fair and show you the trends that await you next winter.
At PREMIUM Berlin the CARL GROSS & CARL GROSS BLACK LINE stand featured high-quality design and an impressive lighting concept
At our 146 m2 trade fair stand we created an environment that accentuated the quality and value of the collections. Over half the stand was dedicated to our main CARL GROSS collection.
As in previous years, the lighting solutions were very important to us. One the one hand, we had to create an atmospheric ambience and on the other we had to appropriately display the high-quality fabrics and excellent workmanship of the products. The large illuminated landscape images – some up to four metres high – showed snow-covered mountains to convey the atmosphere of the new collection’s photo shoot.
The five mannequins at the front of the stand displaying various highlight pieces from the CARL GROSS autumn/winter 2020 collection were extremely eye-catching. Set up on a beautiful white marble-style pedestal, they provided the first glimpse of our stand and attracted a lot of excited visitors, who were able to find out more and discuss the current trends at the illuminated bar in the middle of the stand while enjoying some Italian-inspired delicacies.
The highlights of the photo shoot and the collections were displayed on four iPad Pros, to which all our guests had unrestricted access.
The illuminated wooden-look slats on both the marble-like bar and the entire trade fair stand created a relaxed and stylish atmosphere and also perfectly reflected the Italian style and elegance of the collections, which consistently complemented the entire stand concept.
To increase the feel-good factor and to create a comfortable atmosphere for informative expert discussions, we installed a lounge at the rear of the stand, featuring four brown Egg™ chairs by furniture designer Arne Jacobsen. This iconic chair has combined ultimate comfort with the highest quality materials and design since its introduction in 1958 and is the ideal match for CARL GROSS (est. 1925) and its brand values.
One of the highlights was the inaugural presentation of our sustainable capsule collection Concept Green; it resonated well with trade fair visitors, experts and the press. It is a fundamental foundation stone on our journey towards more sustainability. By launching our own sustainability capsule in autumn/winter 2020, we are taking the first big step towards an ever deeper anchoring of this important topic of sustainability within our company.
The collection is characterised by the use of recycled materials and certified outer fabrics, inlays, linings and accessories, by production in Europe and a high degree of innovation. The result is durable products in contemporary designs produced to the highest quality standards with excellent craftsmanship.
Our 24/7 Flex suit is also excellently adapted to the winter 2020 trend of casual comfort and elegance. It is comfortable, flexible, crease-resistant and also stylish. Attached to a modern point-of-sale presenter by ropes and snap hooks, the 24/7 Flex products were a big hit with the trade fair visitors.
The premium capsule collection CARL GROSS BLACK LINE, that took up around a third of the stand, was presented against an illuminated, marbled background wall. Three mannequins showed off the key pieces of the season on a highlight pedestal in dark faux marble, which perfectly represented the stylish elegance of our premium collection and the high-quality of the predominantly Italian fabrics.
The Mix & Clip promotion was very popular with our visitors, who were able to create their own personal key fob from various snap hooks, CARL GROSS-branded key rings and ribbons.
Here is an overview of the autumn/winter 2020 trends:
# The colour concept: lightness is IN
The autumn/winter look is characterised by a warm colour palette that ranges from beige to brown. Architectural greys and intensive blues reflect the coldness of the snow-covered landscape while highlights are picked out in shades of honey through to orange that bring a warm and cosy feeling to the everyday.
# The fit: casual and elegant
The central theme with suits and jackets is the rounded, softer shoulder design. This creates a more elegant, well-groomed look that does not appear stiff or constructed.
To further underline the modernity, patch pockets and half-linings are important elements of the design. Careful attention to detail emphasises the casual look and creates lightness and elegance at the same time.
At CARL GROSS we call it: 24/7 Flex
Following the maxim “business look & casual feeling”, we focussed on stretch, naturally elasticated and jersey fabrics. The most important issue here is flexibility whilst retaining the perfect fit and a high-quality look.
Our Italian style is reflected in the new season with a BLACK LINE double-breasted jacket. As always, quality is the main focus here.
# Fabrics: Back to Nature – Tweed
In spring/summer 2020, we already saw our designers’ affinity to natural fabrics and this is a trend that develops in the autumn/winter season 2020. The topic is tweed in all its variations. Traditional modern-style fabrics create the look for the coming season – with patterned shirts and corduroy-looks, this trend is an easy one to wear.
At CARL GROSS we don’t just use tweed; we use Harris Tweed. This protected brand guarantees that the robust fabric has been woven by hand by the islanders of the Outer Hebrides. The finest processing, subjected to strict regulations, is guaranteed by the seal. Tweed is essential for a stylish, casual look
We are also following the maxim “Back to Nature” with our sustainability capsule collection Concept Green. Création Gross GmbH und Co KG, a family business since 1925 and a manufacturer of high-quality men’s fashion, actively contributes to sustainability. This is an integral and important part of our corporate philosophy, which is continuously expanded, intensified and improved throughout the textile value chain and in all our corporate departments.
We are convinced that sustainable action is only characterised by efficiency and longevity if this principle is deeply anchored in the company and is carried out in all areas responsible from production to delivery of the product. This does not only include dealing economically with resources and the environment, but also includes taking socially responsible action.
